We are hiring a qualified, experienced, and native English-speaking Early Years teacher to join the team at the beginning of 2026.

The role involves creating a caring, stimulating, and inclusive classroom where young learners can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally through a combination of Values-based Education (VbE) and Enquiry-based Learning.

The successful candidate will play a key role in nurturing curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning in young children. A deep understanding of how to balance structured teaching with play-based exploration will be essential in supporting every child’s early development and well-being.

At Meritton, the Early Years section follows the UK’s Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum. This framework emphasizes learning through play, communication, and exploration. Our Primary and Secondary schools, on the other hand, follow the Cambridge International Curriculum, ensuring continuity and progression throughout a child’s educational journey.

To be effective in this position, teachers must have a thorough knowledge of the EYFS framework and pedagogy. Practical experience with phonics instruction—particularly using established programmes such as Jolly Phonics—will also be highly valued, as literacy development is a core focus in the early years.

Applicants should hold an undergraduate degree in Education or a bachelor’s degree paired with a recognized postgraduate teaching qualification, such as a PGCE with QTS. These credentials ensure that candidates possess both academic grounding and classroom expertise appropriate for an international setting.

A minimum of two years of teaching experience in an Early Years environment is required. This experience should demonstrate the applicant’s ability to design and deliver engaging, child-centred lessons that foster foundational skills, confidence, and independence in young learners.

Native-level English proficiency is essential, as the teacher will be responsible for developing children’s language and communication abilities through daily interaction, storytelling, and structured literacy activities. Clear, natural, and expressive communication will be key to success in this role.

Candidates should also share the school’s commitment to Values-based Education and Enquiry-based Learning. This approach encourages respect, integrity, curiosity, and reflection—qualities that prepare children not only for academic success but also for positive relationships and responsible citizenship.

Meritton British International School is located in Chiang Mai, a vibrant city known for its cultural richness, scenic surroundings, and excellent quality of life. The school offers a supportive professional community and opportunities for growth within a welcoming and forward-thinking environment.

Applicants are asked to submit a concise, one-page cover letter highlighting their suitability for the role. Early applications are encouraged, as the position may be filled before the advertised closing date. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted by the HR department for further steps in the selection process.

As part of its unwavering commitment to child protection, Meritton British International School upholds rigorous safeguarding standards. All successful candidates will undergo comprehensive background checks, including verification with previous employers, online and social media screening, and criminal record checks from their country of origin and any countries of residence.

Salary is 71,000 Baht per month.
