| Write or Paste Ad | British Mandarin International School in Bangkok that follows the British curriculum is looking to appoint a qualified and motivated ESL Teacher who will also serve as Head of the ESL Department for the 2026–2027 academic year. This position offers the opportunity to lead and further develop the school's English as a Second Language programme while teaching secondary students. The successful applicant will teach ESL to students aged 11–18 in classes of approximately 15–20 learners. Instruction will follow the Cambridge curriculum, including IGCSE and A Level pathways, and the role combines classroom teaching with leadership responsibilities within the department. The teaching component involves planning and delivering engaging, differentiated ESL lessons that support students at varying levels of English proficiency. The teacher will help students develop their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills while ensuring lessons align with Cambridge curriculum standards. A key responsibility is preparing students for Cambridge IGCSE English as a Second Language examinations and supporting those progressing towards A Level English Language studies. The teacher will also assist learners in preparing for internationally recognised English proficiency tests such as IELTS, TOEFL, and Cambridge assessments. The role requires assessing students’ language abilities, monitoring their academic progress, and implementing targeted support strategies to address individual learning needs. Progress will be tracked through a variety of assessment methods, including classroom observations, tests, and student coursework. As Head of the ESL Department, the successful candidate will oversee curriculum planning, assessment procedures, and overall programme quality. The position also involves mentoring ESL teachers, promoting consistency across the department, and ensuring high standards of teaching and learning. Collaboration with subject teachers is an important aspect of the role, helping to integrate language support across different academic areas. The department head will also analyse and report on student achievement data to support continuous improvement and positive learning outcomes. Applicants should possess a bachelor’s degree in Education, English, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a related discipline, with a master’s degree considered advantageous. A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, QTS, CELTA, DELTA, or an equivalent certification is required, along with at least three years of ESL/EFL teaching experience and preferably previous leadership or coordination experience. Experience with Cambridge programmes and a strong record of preparing students for English proficiency examinations are highly desirable.
